Temple of Castor AND Pollux

(Then AND Now)

I remember being just a teenager staring at these three columns having absolutely no idea what they were. Furthermore I had no way of finding out what they were. ⁣

Someone told me once that with the internet questions are obsolete. Learning that this is all that remains of the Temple of Castor & Pollux built in 495BC (making it older than anything else I’ve posted on this trip) was much easier to do than to locate where I was when I took this picture. I knew the Temple of Castor & Pollux was in the Forum and I knew I didn’t visit the Forum in 1990 because it was too expensive for me then. Therefore I must have been standing outside the Forum on the street but 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦? This morning I walked the whole parameter of the Forum and when I found the spot it was only a half a block from where I started. But it was a wonderful walk anyway, a dewy morning and by doing so I got to see the Circus Maximus too. ⁣The repair work in white was done in 1760, thanks to their efforts these three columns still stand.
